Why people hate spammers

People hate spammers for a number of reasons. Spammers go around posting links blatantly, ruining perfectly good conversations, and just overall make the web not as fun as it could be. Of course, most of us have learned to tune them out!

The main reason people hate spammers is that they’re only in it for self promotion. All they do is go around posting their links in as many places as possible. And they don’t care who they offend. Nobody likes someone who only cares about themselves, period.

Spammers add nothing of value to the internet. They’re not in it to help people, they’re just there to TAKE. Take take. That’s all it’s about to a spammer. The 2 places I see spammers the most is on blogs and social media. I’m sure you can relate. You know, all those fake comments you get on your blog that don’t even make sense.

And then they have the balls to drop a link in there. Deleted! Well, I drop them, I don’t know about you. Fortunately for WordPress blogs, you can install the Akismet plugin to protect your blog from spam comments. It’s very helpful and easy to use.

Spammers on social media

Unfortunately on Social Media it’s not as easy to protect yourself from spammers. I mean, the hard truth is, they’re there whether YOU like it or not. Sad thing is, there’s no way to tell before you friend someone if they’re a spammer. However, if they automatically drop a link in their very first message to you, rest assured, they’re a spammer.

On Twitter it’s especially bad..there are thousands and thousands of people who only use it for self promotion. It’s really sad. The affiliates on Twitter are the worst. I’m not talking about honest, hardworking affiliate who do it right, I’m talking about the ones who just drop links all day long.

Fortunately, you can easily cut AND block people on the main social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook. The most important thing to do is make sure YOU don’t become a spammer yourself. Your social media channels should be like your extended family, or your “Village”. You should take care of them.

Only offer them value where right. Help them out when possible with helpful links, not just to your own stuff either. Be sure you properly use social media..and the rewards will be great.

Blog comments are another thing too. Don’t go around leaving comments such as “Nice blog.” or “Great post.” . We can all do better than that. Leave a comment that adds value to the conversation. And make sure it’s RELEVANT to the post you’re reading.

Now hopefully you have a better idea of why people hate spammers. Focus on helping people as much as you can and you will go far in the online world. Don’t become a spammer!
