How to make your blog stand out

You’ve probably heard about the importance of standing out in blogging.  If you haven’t, now you’re going to!  Even if you have heard it, you may not have realized how important it is.  What I’m talking about actually applies to learning how to make money on the internet in general, not just blogging.

importance of standing out in blogging

What I’m talking about is something you may have noticed before.  Have you noticed that most of the “how to make money on the internet” blogs look the same?  You know, some real boring design, tons of ads plastered everywhere.  What’s worse, many of those blogs use rehashed content!  I’m not kiddin’..a lot of “make money online” blogs actually just straight up copy other blog posts!

You will find only original posts/articles on my blog, just so ya know!  So why do these other bloggers copy so much?  It’s basic human psychology..we just tend to follow the crowd.  What sucks about that is, it just doesn’t work in internet marketing and blogging!

Why do you need to stand out?

Why would you wanna copy everyone else anyway?  You shouldn’t want that.  The good news is, if you’re already doing it, you can stop RIGHT NOW.  See, internet marketing is one of the most competitive niches.  I know, sucks for me, right?  In a niche as competitive as this, you absolutely have to stand out to grab attention. Whatever niche you’re in may also be real competitive.

You have to have what  “key points of difference”.  These are simply things that make you different from your competitors.  There are probably more than you think!  If you don’t have more than a couple, I suggest you give blogging/marketing strategy a makeover!

Ok, so here’s an exercise for ya.  This will help you find your key points of difference.

importance of standing out in blogging

1.  Find your main competitors in your niche.  Go to their websites, and write down as much info as you can.

  • Their design style
  •  their site stats (traffic)
  •  number of Twitter followers, FB fans, subscribers
  •  writing style
  • blog monetization methods
  • description of site
  • value proposition
  • threat level
  • how much their blog makes per month

You get the idea.  Just write what makes them THEM.

2.  Write down all of YOUR stats.  After you do, find out what makes YOUR blog different.  Then you will have your “key points of difference”.

Like I said, if you only have a couple..you need to “create” some more.  If you need to, give your blog a whole new design.  Or maybe make your writing style less dull (you may need to take writing lessons for this.).   The point is, you need to stand out.  Become so unique and so different that people will just spread the word about you like wildfire.

That’s how stuff goes viral on the net, because it STANDS OUT.  You can apply that to your blogging, that’s the cool part.  Now do you see the importance of standing in blogging?

Anyways I hope this lesson helps you, take action and apply it today to start seeing differences.  I guarantee the more you stand out, the more traffic, subscribers and sales you will make!
